Emergency Food & Shelter Programs
Cares Act Funding Announced

As part of the Homeland Security funds to supplement and expand emergency food and shelter programs, Clay County, Sullivan County, and Vigo County’s local Emergency Food & Shelter Board Program have received awards for distribution to eligible agencies.

  • Vigo County’s local Emergency Food & Shelter Board Program has received an award of $31,851 for Phase 39 and an award of $98,444 for ARPA-R for a total award of $130,295.
  • Sullivan County’s local Emergency Food & Shelter Board Program has received an award of $4,835 for Phase 39 and an award of $14,945 for ARPA-R for a total award of $19,780.
  • Clay County’s local Emergency Food & Shelter Board Program has received an award of $7,303 for Phase 39 and an award of $22,969 for ARPA-R for a total award of $30,272.

Not-for-profit agencies and governmental agencies currently providing these services may apply for the funds to supplement and expand current services. Agencies may apply for one or both of the award funds. Two separate applications are required if submitting requests from both funds. Local organizations chosen to receive funds must: 1) be private voluntary nonprofits (with a voluntary board) or units of government, 2) be eligible to receive Federal funds, 3) have an accounting system, 4) practice non-discrimination, 5) have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs.
