We couldn’t agree with you more!

Community is one of United Way of the Wabash Valley’s Five Focus Areas that will drive our bold goal to move 10,000 families out of financial struggles and into stability.

Your adventure has continued here with a belief that that where you live plays a powerful role in determining life outcomes.  Identifying effective strategies to cut the connection between poverty and place is central to reducing our ALICE population. We’re happy you’ve chosen this path on your adventure because we need your help!

Our United Way of the Wabash Valley’s work is underway with an Impact Council filled with local passion and expertise. These are great community members who think like you. Check out the Impact Council below to learn more, or invest to give these volunteers the resources they need to continue their work developing and investing in smart initiatives!

Your adventure brought you here because you want to see neighborhoods thrive.  You know that the solution is to create neighborhoods that have the physical, social, and environmental ingredients to be catalysts for opportunity.

What a great IMPACT to choose.  Nothing changes a community for the better like volunteering. From cleaning up your streets to running a food drive, “doing good” creates and cultivates a community that cares.

Strong Neighborhoods Council Investment Opportunities

The United Way of the Wabash Valley Strong Neighborhoods Impact Council focuses on creating safe, vibrant, and inclusive neighborhoods.  Their strategies include:

  • Enhance “Look and Feel” by addressing Public Safety, Blight Elimination, and City-Service Improvements

  • Grow Communication in the Neighborhoods

  • Build Neighborhood Identity/Branding

  • Build or Engage Neighborhood Anchors

We’re hopeful donors like you will help us raise the funds needed to invest in smart solutions. If improving our neighborhoods is “your thing,” please donate to the work of this impact council. If you’d like to be part of this council, please contact Mark Johnson at our United Way office.

Listed below, you can find some of the initiatives by this Impact Council.  Look them over, and then, if you choose, make your impact by investing in the work of this impact council.

The Neighborhood Improvement Project mini-grant program invested over $67,000 in 15 total projects that are intended to enhance the “look and feel” of a neighborhood by addressing public safety, beautification projects, blight elimination, and/or government-service improvements.  The projects address a variety of areas and needs including creating neighborhood gathering areas, addressing safety concerns, and creating neighborhood beautification.

Volunteer Opportunities

Our Volunteer Council is different than our other Impact Councils. This team of volunteers and staff have one objective–they’re here to connect you to opportunities to volunteer, to lead, to help people – and to connect you to other people who share your passion. We’re glad your adventure has led you here, because our whole community needs your help!

We know that lifting up our neighbors through acts of service is time well spent. Read to kids. Plan an event. Volunteers make our community an amazing place. Click here to go to Volunteer Wabash Valley and find a great organization with a volunteer need that suits your passion.
