More than 46k Pounds Collected just in Terre Haute

TERRE HAUTE — Driving up and down Hulman and Vorhees streets between 7th and 13th streets on a pleasant Saturday morning, Ernie Smith and John Etling picked up close to three dozen bags of food left on porches and by mailboxes to help the food insecure.

WASHINGTON, May 1, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- About one in six Americans goes hungry or wonders where the next meal will come from. That's a reality of life in the United States today. But another fact of life in this country is that people and organizations get together to tackle such problems and to help their fellow Americans.

To combat hunger, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) will conduct its 22nd annual food drive on Saturday, May 10. Using the unparalleled postal networks, letter carriers will collect non-perishable food donations on that day as they deliver mail along their postal routes.

The Wabash Valley Women of Influence (WVWoI) is perhaps a natural progression to the Women's Professional group. The WVWoI event is designed to identify and recognize top women leaders in the Wabash Valley for their positive influence. This once-a-year event is being held again on April 10, 2014 at 7:30.
