About the United Way of the Wabash Valley

The mission of the United Way of the Wabash Valley is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our community.

Several ways the community can mobilize its caring power are:

VOLUNTEER: Develop a dynamic pool of dedicated volunteers who are actively involved.

GIVE: Motivate donors and utilize resources to respond to the needs in our community.

ADVOCATE: Increase awareness of community needs to influence change.

 


To maximize our effectiveness and impact, we will focus on improving lives in these three priority areas:

HEALTH


The Vision?: "The United Way of the Wabash Valley aims to be a progressive and diverse United Way that fosters education, community basics and health in the community supported by successful fund raising initiatives."



There are also 7 basic values for United Way:

  • Be accountable to donors for every dollar raised and spent. Commit to spending money wisely in a cost-effective manner.
    Be responsive to donor needs. Commit to conducting professional, flexible, tailored campaigns at the lowest system costs.
    Work collaboratively with all constituents in the community and other parts of the United Way system.
    Be a leader in the community in addressing current and emerging needs. Commit to actively bringing together participants/stakeholders to help make the community more successful.
    Maintain the highest integrity.
    Achieve impact. Raise funds for priority causes, lend assistance to make agencies more effective, and build on the capacity and assets of the community.
    Be inclusive. Focus on diversity by creating opportunities to empower all sectors for the community. Together, help define a shared visions and a work plan to achieve community goals.
